The Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP)

It can be really difficult to choose a professional to help you when it comes to writing a Will or Power of Attorney, or dealing with Probate of an estate.  Sadly, as Will writing and Power of Attorney drafting are not regulated or reserved legal activities, anyone can do this for you, regardless of whether or not they have relevant training, expertise, or experience.  

STEP is a global professional body comprising practitioners who help families plan for their futures.  It sets standards, trains and educates its members, and ensures standards are upheld.  Full STEP members (TEPs) are experts in inheritance and succession planning, with proven qualifications and experience.  STEP members are subject to an extensive Code of Professional Conduct.  Those members who draft Wills are also subject to STEP's Will Code, a set of ethical principles that demonstrate the standard of transparency, service and competency clients can expect from a STEP member when preparing their Will.  Members must maintain and develop their relevant skills and knowledge and keep up to date with the law and practice that affects you.

I am really proud to have been a full member of STEP since 2007.  This is the highest level of STEP membership, meaning that I am a fully qualified STEP practitioner and have demonstrated high levels of specialist expertise and experience.  I also have the option to use TEP after my name!
